Blueshark unveiled its smart electric scooter – the R1 – at NADA EX Expo 2022. The electric scooter is powered by a dual 1.44 kWh lithium-phosphate battery and provides a maximum range of 160 km. The R1 is one of the advanced smart electric scooters that comes at an introductory price of Rs 4.65 lakh.

Design and features

The R1 gets a conventional electric scooter design. On the front panel there are LED projector headlights with DRLs in the shape of the brand logo. And the rear has LED taillights and split grab bars. Other notable design elements include its unibody seat, small windshield and 10-inch display. In addition, the scooter was offered in three color variants: Spindrift White, Deepsea Black, Blueshark Blue.

The R1's dashboard features a 10-inch full-color display – integrated with ArkRide OS – that supports GPS, 4G navigation, music, video playback, ride recording and OTA updates. In addition, the e-scooter also has 72 sensors that collect information such as speed, acceleration, temperature, ambient light, seat pressure, etc.

Other notable features are advanced driver assistance system (dual cameras + dual supersonic sensors), fingerprint ignition, IPX5 waterproof display, driving modes (three normal driving modes, Helping Boost and Turbo Racing), disc brakes with combined braking. System (CBS) and passive keyless entry, among others.

Powertrain

The R1 scooters are powered by a dual 1.44 kWh lithium-phosphate battery that generates a peak power of 5 kW and provides a maximum range of 160 km. To adjust and protect the battery, the scooter comes with a battery management system; the battery management system gains features such as pre-discharge, strong/weak electrical isolation, over-current protection and voltage equalization, among others. And the R1 is fully charged in 3.5 hours using a direct charger. In addition, the scooter can reach a speed of up to 80 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
