Joy e-bike is set to launch four e-bikes in Nepal – Beast, Hurricane, Skyline and Thunderbolt. Mahabir Automobiles Pvt. Ltd, the exclusive distributor of Joy e-bikes, first showcased these bikes at NADA Auto Expo 2022 and the company is all set to launch all four models within a month.

Design and features

The design of the Joy e-bikes is based on common sports bikes powered by ICE. Among the four e-bikes, Beast and Hurricane are naked bikes and Skyline and Thunderbolt are full bikes. The Beast and the Hurricane comes with an aggressive front fascia, muscular tank, split handle and split seats. And the Skyline and Thunderbolt get a full body, windshield and split raised seats.

The naked bikes, the Beast and Hurricane, are equipped with a 3.5-inch color LCD display, and the full-sized bikes - the Skyline and Thunderbolt - get a 5-inch color LCD display. Other notable features of the e-bikes include LED headlights, USB charging port, two riding modes with reverse assist, hydraulic suspension, dual disc brakes and intelligent remote anti-theft lock, among others.

Joy e-bikes are offered in two variants of battery packs: 72V-72 Ah battery and 72V-66Ah battery. The Hurricane is powered by a 72V-66Ah battery and the other models get a 72V-72Ah battery. These batteries are connected to a 5 kW DC Brushless HUB motor that generates a torque of 230 Nm.

E-bikes can be fully charged in 8-9 hours using a 10 amp smart charger. The smart charger protects the battery from electrical hazards such as high/low temperature, overvoltage and short circuits. And on one charge, the bikes provide a range of 95-110 km, depending on the model. In addition, all wheels can reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h.
