Maruti SPresso and Renault KWID are the key competitors, the Kwid facelift is available with 2 engine options – 0.8 liter petrol and 1.0 liter petrol, S-Presso is offered with a single 1.0 liter petrol engine. Here we bring you specifications, features and price comparison. Starting with the rates, the Maruti SPresso starts at Rs 22.99 Lakhs and onwards and the Renault KWID starts at Rs 21.96 Lakhs.
ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS Maruti SPpresso and Renault KWID
The 2019 Renault Kwid is available with 2 engines – a 0.8-litre petrol 3-cylinder and a 1.0-litre petrol SCe. The 1.0-litre engine is capable of producing 67 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,250 rpm. This is a BS4 compliant engine and will move to BS6 early next year. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
The Maruti S-Presso, on the other hand, gets a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine that will also power the Celerio and Wagon R. This powertrain produces 67bhp at 5,500rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. . A five-speed manual is available as standard, while the AMT unit comes with top-end variants.
Mileage comparison
The lower S-Presso variants claim to return an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 21.4kmpl, while the higher-end VXi and VXi+ deliver 21.7kmpl.
The Kwid 1.0L manual variant has an ARAI certified fuel economy of 23.01 kmpl, while the Kwid 1.0 AMT returns 24.04 kmpl.
Comparison of safety equipment
Both cars are equipped as standard with a driver's airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt warning and speed warning. Facelift S-Presso and Kwid to meet new crash test and pedestrian safety standards. The range-topping S-Presso comes with two airbags as standard, while the Kwid 1.0 has an optional passenger side airbag. However, the base Maruti model lacks a reverse parking camera.
In terms of dimensions
Dimensionally, the Maruti S-Presso is 114mm shorter, 59mm narrower and 86mm taller. In fact, the wheelbase and ground clearance are 20mm and 4mm shorter than the Kwid. The S-Presso is 3,565mm in length, 1,520mm in width and 1,564mm in height. The mini SUV comes with a wheelbase of 2380 mm and ground clearance of 180 mm.
The base and top trims of Maruti Suzuki's new mini SUV weigh 726 kg and 763 kg respectively. With a curb weight of 699 kg, the Renault Kwid is 27 kg lighter than the S-Presso.
Comparison of features
The top variant of the Kwid comes with features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support along with video playback and voice recognition. Features like the instrument cluster and the new digital instrument cluster come directly from Triber. The S-Presso, on the other hand, comes with a 7-inch Studio SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
