Maruti Suzuki has launched the new version of the Alto in India. The new generation Alto K10 is based on the company's Heartect platform and comes with significant improvements in design, powertrain and features. The new Alto K10 is available in six variants: STD, LXI, VXI, VXI AGS, VXI+ and VXI+ AGS – starting at INR 5.85.

Design

The new Alto K10 comes with a new design language; The front fascia of the hatchback looks more elegant with a wider honeycomb grille and angular LED headlights. At the rear, the hatchback has combination lights that consist of direction indicators, reverse and serial light. The car sits on 13-inch steel wheels with honeycomb motif covers.

The interior of the new hatchback has been redesigned with a blacked-out dashboard. On the dash is a steering wheel with mounted audio and voice control controls; instrument console with digital speedometer display; and a 7-inch infotainment system that includes a smart play studio (compatible with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity) with smart navigation.

Engine and performance

The third generation Alto K10 is powered by a 998cc K-series twin-turbo petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 67bhp at 5500rpm and a peak torque of 89Nm at 3500rpm. As for the transmission, the engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or an Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission.

The hatchback has a fuel tank capacity of 27 liters and delivers an average mileage of 24.39 kmpl (for MT) and 24.90 kmpl (for AMT).
