Odysee Electric Vehicle has launched its new electric bike – Vader in the Indian market. Vader is India's first e-bike with a 7-inch fully digital instrument console that offers Google Map navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. The e-bike is available at an introductory price of INR 1.10 lakh.

Nemin Vora, CEO of Odysse Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd said: “Our aim is to provide sustainable and affordable mobility that can be accessible to everyone. The first step to achieving this goal is to create an affordable product that anyone can run. Prices for the Odyssey Vader start from Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad). We have an exciting new product line planned for 2023 along with the FAME-II approved high speed VADER motorcycle. We plan to launch the electric scooter in the third quarter of 2023. We also intend to expand our dealer network to over 150 by the end of the year and expect this initiative to increase our sales by at least 300%.

Design and features

The new Vader has a similar design to commuter bikes. The front dashboard is equipped with a round headlight, a small insect screen and a bikini fairing, and at the back, the e-bike has an LED tail light and split handles. The bike comes with split seats and an 18 liter storage space underneath. In addition, the bike is offered in five different colors: Midnight Blue, Fiery Red, Glossy Black, Venom Green and Misty Grey.

The Vader is the first e-bike in India to feature a 7-inch fully digital Android-based instrument console – offering Google Maps, OTA (over-the-air) updates and Bluetooth connectivity – that displays information such as speed, riding modes, battery status and call history alerts. The company also offers an app that provides information about the connected e-bike, such as live tracking, immobilization, geo-fencing, and low battery alerts, among others. Other notable features are LED units, regenerative braking, 18-litre storage space and driving modes.

Powertrain

The Vader is powered by a 3.7kWh IP67 lithium-ion battery – which is paired with a 3kW hub-mounted electric motor – which generates a peak torque of 170Nm. The e-bike was offered in three driving modes: Eco, Drive and Sport, and in Sport mode the bike can reach a maximum speed of 85 km/h. The Vader can be fully charged in approximately 4 hours and provides a range of 90-125 km on a single charge depending on driving modes.

Chassis

The Vader's suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a double suspension setup at the rear. For braking, the e-bike gets a combined braking system (CBS) with disc brakes at both ends.

Odysse Vader Award in Nepal

The Odysse Vader has been launched in India at an introductory price of INR 1.10 lakh and the company says it will start deliveries in July. Although there is no official news about its launch in Nepal, fans can expect it to cost around Rs 3.50 lakh here.
