After a long wait, Royal Enfield has introduced its latest addition to the 350cc category in Nepal – the Meteor. Vivek Automobiles Pvt. Ltd, the official distributor of RE motorcycles in Nepal, has introduced the Meteor 350 here. The Meteor bikes sold in Nepal are available in three variants and seven color options.

The Meteor is a completely new motorcycle model that replaces the ThunderbirdX. It is the first motorcycle to come out of Royal Enfield's new J-platform. Its introduction marked a new and updated range of engines from the manufacturer in the 350 cc segment after a long time. Let's see what this new cruiser has in store.

The Meteor 350 is available in three different variants: Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. As a base variant, the Fireball doesn't get any extras, just plain black alloy wheels. It doesn't get a windshield or passenger seatback, and the logo on the tank is just a sticker. The Fireball is available in monotone red and yellow. The mid-range variant, the Stellar, gets a chrome exhaust along with a passenger seatback. This variant also has 3D logos on the tank for a more premium feel. The Stellar is available in grey, maroon and blue. The range-topping variant, the Supernova, features a wide windscreen and gets diamond-cut alloy wheels along with a passenger backrest and a chrome exhaust. The Supernova is available in two-tone variants of brown and sky blue with contrasting seat trim.

The Meteor carries over the cruiser styling cues from the ThunderbirdX with a circular headlamp with LED DRLs, a peanut-shaped fuel tank, swept-back handlebars, a folding rear fender and an LED taillight. The bike has a dual instrument panel that is a combination of analog and digital, with features like Tripper navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

Although the Meteor 350 is a replacement for the ThunderbirdX, the two are quite different from each other. The Meteor gets a newly updated engine with new chassis and suspension setup. The bike is powered by an all-new 349cc EFI oil-cooled four-stroke engine that is capable of producing a maximum power of 20.2 bhp and a maximum torque of 27 Nm. The engine is mated to a standard 5-speed constant-gear transmission.

In terms of suspension, the Meteor has telescopic forks at the front and a 6-speed adjustable double shock absorber at the rear. The bike rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with a 100-piece tire at the front and 17-inch alloy wheels with a 140-piece tire at the rear. Braking is handled by a 300mm disc at the front with a two-piston floating caliper and a 270mm disc at the rear with a single-piston floating caliper. The Meteor also comes with a dual-channel ABS option. The new Meteor 350 faces competition from Jawa, Honda H'ness CB350 and Benelli Imperiale 400.
